This product listing is for one of three artist's proofs, original two-block linocut prints entitled 'Gràtteri, Sicily'.
The first block is printed using four colours and the second block is printed in traditional black.
These artist's proofs do not form part of the main edition (available as a separate listing) because they were produced at early stages of the print run, and involved some experimentation with colour and technique. There may be slight flaws in the print - for instance registration not quite right, very slight movement where the paper jumped as it went through the press, the ink perhaps slightly grainy in flat areas. However, rest assured that these are still very attractive prints, available for you to purchase for much less than the main edition.
The lincut is a beautiful design inspired by the picturesque inland Sicilian village of Gràtteri, which I have visited, off the beaten tourist track and nestled in a dramatic mountainside landscape. This design has proved very popular. Hand printed by me (not a reproduction) using artists' quality oil-based ink on high quality archival paper. The image size is an unusual and striking slim portrait format, ideal for that blank narrow bit of wall somewhere! Please note that as this is hand printed by me, each item is unique, but that is part of the charm of a linocut print.
